Out With the Old and In With the New

Just a quick note to say Hi! I’m working on my new website after the other one was hacked and so the easiest way to manage that was to abandon it and start fresh!

My web building knowledge is amateurish at best and all self-learned but with a shout-out to my brother Doug who patiently guided me through the murky waters of all this.

What I’ve done in the meantime is spiffed up my free Square webpage that actually looks great. To view click here: https://elainesmith-art-works.square.site/ The site has limited capabilities but I also wanted to be able communicate with my friends/subscribers/art supporters. And that’s what my WordPress site does for me. But it’s a work-in-progress, much like a lot of my art.

What’s new aside from deveoping my new site? Well, it’s a busy art show season coming up. So I’m submitting to a few selected shows. The Pearl Ellis Gallery will be having their next Member’s show and I’m happy to be accepted for that with my diptych, Steeplechase Daydreams.

An exciting even coming in April is a community wide ‘gallery hop’ The theme will be water. More details to follow but basically several galleries/studios will be participating including CV Art Gallery, Pearl Ellis and our new little art space, Studio 211. Stay tuned for press releases and details. At 211 we will be open Friday to Mondays, 10-2pm, April 4-28, 2025. Otherwise by appointment.

My new studio space is Studio 211. We are loacted at #211-2270 Cliffe Ave in Courtenay. It’s a funky old building, perfect for 5 artists to blissfully work and create. Contact me if you want to organize a visit!
